On Tuesday 29th January at 7pm I am hosting the lovely Lynne Sharpe, Resident Artist at
Hylands House in Chelmsford
She will be joining us at Chicken and Frog Bookshop to teach us how to make our very own piece of felt from fibre. Once we have made our felt she will show us how to turn it into a beautiful beaded floral corsage.
Here's how she describes the evenings plans:
During
this three hour wet feltmaking class , you will learn about different types of fibres
which can be used in this fascinating process. We will discuss colour
choices and other fibres which can be combined in this material.
Using dyed Merino wool, discover how to lay out the
fibres to create felt in your choice of colours – there will be lots of shades
to choose from. Then the amazing part, turn a bundle of loose fibres into
a textile - use soap and water and some elbow grease to create your own
100% wool felt. There are lots of processes to remember but full
instructions will be provided.
Once you have made felt use it to create a beautiful
flower corsage incorporating seed beads, make a completely individual item.
If you would like to join us there are a few places left. The cost for the session is £30 and all materials are provided and as always there will be plenty of hot drinks and cake for all.
To book please e-mail me or call 07747846356
Many thanks
Claire
