TaDa! - Matilde by Tilly & the Buttons

Take a look at what I got up to yesterday.

As you may remember I purchased the Matilde pattern from Tilly at Makegood earlier this month and yesterday I got the chance to have a sewing day.

I'd been in Canterbury this weekend with hubby and had purchased some beautiful lightweight cotton lawn in a lovely peach and navy floral pattern.  It reminds me a lot of Joules fabric which I am a sucker for so I was onto a winner.

Not only is the fabric lovely to work with, as per usual Tillys patterns are fabulous.  Easy to follow, clear instructions and the only unpicking I ended up doing was because of my own wobbly stitches and nothing to do with the pattern itself.

As you can see I added some lovely metal vintage buttons to the back and also a tiny little popper right at the top just to stop the opening from flapping about.  I also added a tiny little stitch in the ditch on both shoulders just to keep my facings down.

I ought to take a picture of the inside really, just to show you how well it is finished.  With all the seams being french and the back opening being fully faced there are no ugly raw edges on show at all and you could easily think the garment was purchased in M&S or similar!

I am delighted and cant wait to crack on with my next project in my dressmaking adventure.

I'm off to my daughters sports day now and will be wearing my Matilde with pride it's the perfect Yummy Mummy attire!

  1. It looks great and far superior to Marks & Spencer who no longer sell well made garments. You can at least say it was made in England. Keep up the good work and you will soon have a completely unique wardrobe.
