I was...I know how mad and frustrated you must feel. I was a council tenant in Hackney years ago, we had the top flat in a Victorian terrace, the lower flat had been bought by a previous tenant. Our roofs were leaking and porous and in such a dangerous state that they were condemned by the council and were too dangerous to be mended. We also had a crack 1" wide down one wall as the back wall was sinking into the garden, damp and no heating. After many many calls to the housing department we were finally told by the then head of housing that as the flat below was now in privet hands, (though still a leaseholder to the council the roof and wall could @*@***, (i can't write the actual words, but I'm sure you get my drift), fall down for all he cared. I should mention that we had rented the property for 28 years and never missed a rent payment, had improved the property with secondary glazing etc. Meanwhile a friend of the family was working on contracts replacing kitchens and doors that had been wilfully damaged by tenants who rarely paid they rent.I hope you get it sorted out soon, but try not to give yourselves ulcers and grey hair, you'll get there in the end.
Karen Bournehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04092260515796335590noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5127054734666781139.post-56153289810871862372013-07-15T18:10:30.633+01:002013-07-15T18:10:30.633+01:00I feel your pain Claire. My neighbours are council...I feel your pain Claire. My neighbours are council and the dividing fence fell down in winds because the posts were rotten. After numerous emails, phone calls we were told it would be replaced within 3-9 months so for all that time I had a 4 panel gap in the fence. 9 months came and went and still no fence so I emailed again and over a yr after we 1st got in touch they finally replaced it but with the chicken wire fencing. Now I have half the fencing in rotten wooden panels that will fall down soon and half in chicken wire!!!
It means I'm going to have to pay for it myself and thats not going to be cheap!!! So frustrating, why not do the whole dividing fence and replace like with like?!
AgghhhHelen Rose Glasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09395567348119359940noreply@blogger.com
